Dr Séamus Ryan
Dr Séamus Ryan is a mixed-methods Human–Computer Interaction researcher with a background in computer science and psychology. His work examines fairness, ethics, and accountability in AI, with a particular focus on high-stakes domains such as healthcare and digital safety.
He earned his PhD from Trinity College Dublin and has published extensively on the design of fairer machine-learning systems, combining quantitative analysis with qualitative, human-centred research. Bridging academia and industry, Séamus is especially interested in the messy realities of how intelligent systems are actually experienced in practice, and brings industry experience from large-scale technology organisations including Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft.
