Dr Mike Glennon
Dr Mike Glennon has a background spanning academic research, creative practice and third level education. Mike was awarded his PhD by TU Dublin in 2021 for his research on Mix-Based Modes of Making Music. He has presented his research and composition work at locations including the Research Pavilion of the Venice Biennalle. His writing has been published by platforms including Organised Sound, Sounding Out and RTE Brainstorm. Mike began his career in the graphic design industry with a subsequent focus on audio based creative forms. He has devised and delivered projects for enterprises and institutions including RTE Radio 1, RTE Lyric FM, The National Museum of Ireland, The Bram Stoker Festival and The Patrick Kavanagh Centre. The radio documentary The Dawning Of The Day, which he produced and presented for RTE Lyric FM, was awarded Silver in the Best Music Arts & Culture Documentary category at the IMRO Radio Awards 2023. The audio-visual installation Hy Brasil, with original composition and sound design work by Mike, won Gold in the Exhibitions & Installations category at the 2019 Kinsale. Mike has also worked as a lecturer in TU Dublin and BIMM Dublin teaching in areas including cultural theory, communications and collaborative practice. As Industry Engagement Officer at IADT, Mike is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative activity with industry and external partners.
