Sarah Van Horn
Sarah Van Horn is a cultural researcher and strategist with more than a decade of experience in cultural insight, working across qualitative, ethnographic and visual methodologies.
Her current work explores the cultural and lived experience of Ireland’s transition to renewable energy. Her research focuses on how people experience and make meaning of landscape change associated with renewable-energy development, and how this relates to their relationships with place.
Drawing on qualitative and place-based approaches, her work explores questions of place attachment, landscape, identity, memory and agency, with a particular interest in how large-scale energy transitions are experienced and negotiated at a local and human scale. Her interdisciplinary practice brings together cultural research and qualitative inquiry to explore how social, environmental and technological change are experienced in everyday life.
PhD candidate Eilís N. explores loneliness, isolation and our growing dependence on digital spaces in a newly published article examining Bo Burnham’s *Inside* (2021), featured in the *Irish Screen Studies Journal* special issue, *Cinema and Loneliness*.
Building Entrepreneurial Skills Through The IADT Student Accelerator Programme
The TU RISE IADT Elevate Programme hosted an XR Design Sprint bringing together enterprises and creative practitioners to explore real-world applications of immersive technologies through collaborative, hands-on innovation. Over five days, participants developed early-stage concepts across education, culture and creative industries, supported by design thinking and industry expertise.
