The Innovate Lab
IADT’s Innovate Lab delivers structured workshops that facilitate the adoption of new technologies and ideas by industry. A recent three workshop series focused upon immersive technologies.
· Workshop 1: Introduction to the Metaverse
· Workshop 2: 360 Photography and Video
· Workshop 3: Photogrammetry and Scanning
Attendees included representatives from sectors including the Creative Industries, Education, Government or Non-Profit, Manufacturing and Engineering and Technology. Participants were able to explore immersive technologies and explore how they may be utilised to benefit their business.
Impact: The workshops enabled a diverse group of stakeholders to gain hands-on experience with immersive media tools and concepts. Participants were empowered to identify practical applications of metaverse environments, 360° content, and photogrammetry for organisational innovation, strengthening IADT’s reputation as a catalyst for sectoral knowledge exchange and digital transformation.
PhD candidate Eilís N. explores loneliness, isolation and our growing dependence on digital spaces in a newly published article examining Bo Burnham’s *Inside* (2021), featured in the *Irish Screen Studies Journal* special issue, *Cinema and Loneliness*.
Building Entrepreneurial Skills Through The IADT Student Accelerator Programme
The TU RISE IADT Elevate Programme hosted an XR Design Sprint bringing together enterprises and creative practitioners to explore real-world applications of immersive technologies through collaborative, hands-on innovation. Over five days, participants developed early-stage concepts across education, culture and creative industries, supported by design thinking and industry expertise.
